Community Liaison
Title:Community Liaison
Location:McKeesport, Pennsylvania


Plan and coordinate activities designed to create and maintain a favorable public image and raise awareness for the organization. This position will include being an advocate and marketer of the company and its products. In this role, the successful candidate will work between 16-29 hours weekly, but requires flexibility. Some evenings and weekends will be required.


  • Establish and maintain public outreach programs about cannabis.
  • Serves as key point of contact for neighboring businesses, governmental institutions, residents and others in assigned area.
  • Regularly attend meetings of neighborhood associations, chambers of commerce, city councils, and other key associations and partners in assigned area.
  • Regularly represents PurePenn at external partner events.
  • Provides marketing and public relations support to programs that adhere to PurePenn goals.
  • Write news releases, profiles, and stories highlighting PurePenn programs.
  • Support PurePenn in promoting the facility and liaising with the media, elected officials, donors and other key constituents, in alignment with PurePenn goals.
  • Support PurePenn with crisis and other communications.
  • Support special projects as directed by Facility Director.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of political and economic influences in the local community and its impact on the business and workforce. Communicate these influences to the executive team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Support employee requests regarding community events by creating internal communications
  • Serve as a point of contact for Community Fund, Chamber of Commerce and Board Members
  • Discuss grants and prepare agendas for meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in public relations/public affairs activities and programs
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience interfacing with local/community organization representatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal business hours on a frequent basis, including work on weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Initiative, Decision Making/Judgment, Professionalism, Persuasiveness, Diplomacy, Communication, Collaboration, Relationship Building, Sense of Urgency

Physical Activities and Requirements:

  • Must be able to independently travel to off-site meetings and events.
  • Individual may occasionally be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 20 pounds.
